One of the first things that we'll be doing is widening the driveway if possible. I've been through the Mattamy Upper Country Club where the sales office is and there seems to be enough room on some houses but then some look way too close to the road. I guess we'll have to wait and see. I'll also be installing my air conditioner shortly after close.

*We'll be changing all the bathroom light fixtures immediately after close.
*Painting :)
*Central Vac will be installed in the garage 2 days after close
*A/C will be installed in the spring time hopefully.
*We'll be buying a chain-link fence to keep the puppy from visiting all the neighbours (As much as he would love to visit!)
*Changing some of the other light fixtures in the home
*Installing Toliet Paper, and Towel bars in the bathrooms
*Pulling out the carpet in one bedroom and putting in hardwood or laminite (Depending on $$ remaining after close lol) and turning it into an office
*Looking into widening the driveway like Shaunn&Rachel said
*Window treatments on all the windows
*Frosting the windows on and around the door

That's all I can think of off the top of my head.

smartsexy,
I am planning to widen the driveway as well. Do you know who is paving the driveways? Anyone planning to speak to the company who is paving the drivewas and see if they will widen the driveway for a fee?

The concept of frosting the glass around the doors sound interesting. Are you planning to frost the mirror siding closet doors?

Hey Fletcher,
I'm not too sure who the company is, but I am sure we can call the construction office and ask. If I find out, I'll post it here. I'm hoping they won't put up too much of a fuss to widen it. I really want a double car driveway!

We aren't going to frost the mirrored sliders. We want to frost the small windows around the door as in my opinion, it's such a tiny space to put up curtains or anything. Frosting keeps the sunlight coming in, but the peeping toms out. lol

I want to widen the driveway to a double. Part of the reason for picking the hillcrest was the ability to widen to a double driveway as some 34' models make it difficult to widen, such as the Twin Cedars.

We are immediately going to:

*Install Bamboo flooring throughout the main floor
*paint
*staining the staircase
*bathroom accessories: lights, towel bars and toilet paper things
*A/C
*slate back splash in kitchen
*carpet in basement for our kids to play

.....I Thinks ......that's everything

Shaun & Rachel.... great idea. Be careful not to classify it as "widening the driveway" as some cities (Oakville was like this) didn't allow you to. BUT, they don't stop you from adding a wide walk-way beside your driveway! We were in an end unit in a townhome row and we did that. It allowed us to park side by side. We didn't interlock or pave, just used gravel (wanted to eventually interlock), but it worked wonders! Hope this helps!

Mattamy subs that out to a company and I can tell you our experience with Mattamy/widening the driveway in Oakville was an ABSOLUTE NO!! It somehow actually violates the contract somehow (can't remember details). Check my previous post to Shaun&Rachel. We did it afterwards on our own.

Karen!
That is a fantastic alternative!!!

I was telling Kevin to just put those patio stones down to make a walkway and we'll just drive on it, but the gravel looks better!

Steve dug that out all by himself... don't think he'd do it again, hence why we have a double-car driveway now!!

We ordered the screening and the gravel and they dumped it right in the hole.
