Jen was definitely great... she didnt try to get us to buy anything she didnt think we needed etc.

Mother in law had Coretta and said she was fantastic too... think she pretty much designed her whole house, lol

Exactly what you said justmed! I was worried that we would be "bullied" into making purchases we didn't need or want and it was nothing like that!
She suggested things that we didn't realize we needed to get (Like staining the stringers on the stairs) Which makes complete sense if you want it to match the hardwood. And she made a couple other suggestions that we didn't realize we would like and/or need (seeing as neither of us owns a home or has gone through this process) :)

One suggestion I would make to everyone is to have all the bathroom accessories deleted (ie: toilet paper roll, towel rack, etc.). They are literally "cemented" into the wall and are a pain to take out afterwards. We personally want to hang/put up nice stainless steel/chrome or decorative pieces in our bathrooms. There is zero cost to delete.

Also, one other suggestion re: kitchen bulkheads. If you want them deleted, keep pushing. They told us no 4 times and on the 5th time, they finally caved and said yes. Don't take no as the first answer. Deleting the kitchen bulkheads are so much nicer in the kitchen and cost $0!

We also deleted the bathroom accessories!! It's funny as we were touring a home that was framed and they had written on the frame where the door is "Delete Towel bar, soap dish," ect We are going to make sure they do that for our house. I wouldn't want them to forget lol

We also deleted the bulkheads but we didn't have any problems with deleting it. I think it may depend on what model you choose it may be harder to delete them.

But I am so happy that both those items were free to do =) Gotta take advantage of something free from the builder LOL

I am going to delete the bathroom fixtures too. Thanks for the info about the kitchen bulkhead, I'll push for it too!

Anyone with a Northridge Elev. C have any luck getting them to delete the bulkhead? Have been told consistently that we can't.

They'll tell you they can't because they don't want to put the effort into re-directing pipes/electrical that run through them. I'd continue to fight. Do you know the similar model in other communities (ie: Milton, Brampton), because I found my model (different name) as resales that have pictures with the bulkheads deleted. That helped my case as well.

thanks for tip on bulk head...................I will have to aslk Coretta about that one.............

If you deleted the bulk head, did you put molding on top of the cupboards ..........

Does it look better to delete bulkhead even in a townhouse, I can see it being done in a detached home with the upgraded 9 foot ceilings....

Townhomes are a little more difficult cuz you're attached to other people. If you're end unit, press for it. Our Mattamy town in Oakville had no bulkheads, and again we had to press for it. We did not have 9ft ceilings and we found it looked better. We got to put nice glass pieces and rope lighting up top. We did not put crown on it cuz of the lack of 9ft ceilings, but regardless for valence and crown, I would do afterwards through Aya. We did it on our own aftewards and we saved a couple hundred bucks.
