Hey K.C.
I got this invite off of a friend and I am soo excited to go to it. Unfortunately, we'll have to go on an evening or weekend :(
I'm glad to hear that this sale is a good one! We've been to some really crappy ones lately.
Actually I'm now wondering where the hell I'm going to park if I go during the day. The street gets filled up quick and the warehouse is surrounded by other companies who have their parking lots full with their own employees. The warehouse itself has very little parking.
I recall going there last year and after business hours the companies around the warehouse have started to charge for parking for the William Ashley customers. They figure they're going to park there anyway so might as well hire someone to collect the money and keep it orderly. It's worth it to pay for the parking especially if you plan on buying any China since it can get very heavy. There's even a guy who sells hot dogs at the entrance. They've thought of everything.
I might go late in the afternoon in case parking is impossible during the day as well. If I wait until the workers in the surrounding area start going home a parking spot will be much easier to find.
The sale is awesome but it gets confusing in there and you might miss the best stuff if you don't make a point of finding where they keep the China. From what I recall the China is closer to the exit than the entrance.
They have new stuff that comes in every day and the bargains are spread out over the course of the month so you don't have to feel like you'll miss something if you don't go early in the sale.

Haha, I guess I'll bring some extra cash with me to pay for parking then. Makes complete sense for those other companies to collect lol. Nice and a street meat is there! They've thought of everything!
Are you planning on going Thursday? (We might go then in the evening, if not we're going bright and early on Saturday!)
I'm not sure yet if I'll go on Thursday. I'll see how work is going and if I can slip out late in the afternoon. Otherwise I'll go next week.
After all my talk about not going on the first day I'm going on the first day! On the website it said if you plan on showing up before 7:30AM on Wednesday please RSVP with your email address. So I did. I'm not sure exactly what happens at 7:30AM since the sale is supposed to start at 9:00AM. Maybe they let some people in early. Well I'll let you know what happens.

Oh and is it Cash only or do they offer debit too?
I have to figure that out. I'll post it as soon as I find out.
It looks like they are opening early on Wednesday. The initial email says Early Opening with Breakfast Television. I think I'll plan to be there by 7:00AM.

Yea, I went on their website and I saw that too.
I am going to say if BT is covering it in the morning that it's going to be a zoo there!
Good Luck to you :)
I couldn't get a live person on the phone at the warehouse so I called William Ashley in Toronto. She checked about the payment methods for the warehouse sale and said they accept cash, debit, and all major credit cards.

You're the best K.C. :)
Thanks!
That means I am not limited in my spending at the sale if they have debit!

AHAHAHA I know!
"but it's for the house!" is my reasoning :)
Your probably not back from the sale yet, but I am dying to know how it is!!!
We're going to go tomorrow evening
Hi Smartsexy, I didn't get any sleep last night because today was my final day for the 10 day confirmation. I was sure everything was fine because I went over the contract very carefully before our final meeting and prepared a document which corrected all of the previous errors. Our consultant has a habit of making duplicate entries. Unfortunately the design consultant threw away that document. My agreement is 42 pages long! I discovered something frightening which led me to look closer at the drafts of our agreement. Unfortunately I started my discovery process at 9PM last night. I stayed up till 3AM as one discovery led to another. Got up at 5AM and didn't actually get any sleep. I'm so upset I don't even want to talk about it. Our confirmation has been extended to next week and I'm going to start from scratch just so I can be sure there are no errors.
On the bright side, I've discovered that because of the one major error I have about $3300 left to spend on upgrades even after the missing items have been added back into the totals.
So far today I have gone from Mississauga to the sale in Toronto to Cambridge and back to Mississauga. All on no sleep. I got home at 11:30AM.
Stood in line for over an hour at the sale. We were in the first 100 people to enter so we got the free gifts. The decanter is really nice. It's probably worth about $250.
Most of the stuff I bought was about 50 to 60% off. Not bad since I only went there to buy specific things.
I bought a really nice tablecloth for the gigantic table I'm going to have made by the Amish in Millbank. Also bought the cloth napkins to match.
I also added to my Mikasa Antique White collection and now have enough China and serving pieces to have Christmas dinner at my house for 12 people. In our family there are usually only 8 to 9 people total at Christmas so I think I'm covered.
Also picked up some new bath mats and some throw pillows for the window seat in the Master Bedroom. The throw pillows were about 80% off and they're really nice. Color choices were limited or I would have bought alot more.
Got some nice flannel bed sheets for the new king bed we are having made by the Amish.
I may go back to the sale on a late afternoon later in the month to see if there are new items in that weren't there today.
Because we were there so early, we were able to get a parking spot right next to the exit door. $6 for parking but the spots were limited to about 20.
P.S.: Try not to park on the street even if other people do and it looks permissable. There's a pretty good chance you will get towed. Some of the people we stood in line with said that happened alot. We had actually parked on the street and then moved the car to the paid parking lot to be safe. The last thing I needed today was to get the car towed.

WOW! Sounds like quite the drama. Haha but it shouldn't be difficult to spend $3300 quickly at the design centre! Couldn't you just save it if you didn't need to upgrade anything else?
I think you should get some sleep now!
But I'm glad that you found alot of great things! I'm so excited to go tomorrow night. I told Kevin to put on his walking shoes as it will be packed and we'll probably have to walk far.
Thanks for the heads up on the parking advice. I would cry if my car got towed away!!!
I'm thinking of putting wall sconces everywhere! I know people like pot lights but they don't provide alot of light. Plus I like the way wall sconces look. After all this nonsense I'm going to splurge on lighting!
I avoided upgrading the countertops by going with the Kalahari Topaz which looks alot like Zodiac.
The other big thing I splurged on was upgraded trim and 7 1/4" baseboards.
I know I'm a little strange but I like what I like.
The sale is greatly improved from last year because they have added more square footage to the warehouse so that it is easier to get around with a cart. Last year it was impossible. Also they are limiting the number of shoppers at any given time. Some people have to come out before any more people can go in. It is helpful to have a partner with you when you shop. He can mind the cart while you run around picking up items to put in the cart.

lol wall scones are nice :)
Everyone has their own tastes and preferences! And you'll be the one living in your house, so you get the final say!
Nice! I am super excited to go! I'm going to bring my winter coat so I don't freeze in line waiting. I'll have Kevin manning the shopping cart while I pass him stuff to get the yay or nay lol. I love crazy sales (And trust me I have been to tons with pushing and shoving and madness everywhere!)
Smartsexy, it may be too late for you to read this message before you go tonight but I wanted to let you know there is a large parking lot right on the opposite side of the street from the warehouse. Parking there is $6 also. I went over there for a few hours this afternoon and picked up a few things.
Also while we were standing in line to get in alot of people who were parked on the street were getting ticketed even though it seemed they were legally parked. Apparently too many people parked on the street causes the local companies to call the authorities and they start to get nit picky about what constitutes legal parking.
Also when you are in line once you get closer to the entrance there is a split off where you can get in the line for carts or the line for trays. The trays line moves faster but if you want a cart you have to be in the right lane otherwise you will not be able to get one without going through the line again. Since the wait to get in is about an hour you want to make sure you're in the right line.
Also if you are buying China or crystal from the fancy China area you need to give your order in 20 minutes before you are ready to get in the checkout line. So don't wait until the last minute to put your order in or you'll be screwed since they need a 20 minute lead time to get your order ready.

Hey K.C.
Haha you were right, I didn't get the message in time :)
Kevin and I drove right up to the sale and saw the parking lot across the street. I was happy that we got a super close spot. Didn't mind that we had to pay $6. I would rather do that the walk so far away with breakables in my hands!
We honestly waited about 5 minutes in line - At first we didn't realize there was a cart line and tray line, everyone was in the cart line until the lady shouted it out to everyone. We wanted a cart anyhow as I hate carrying stuff!
When we got in there it was a zoo! OMG I didn't expect it to be that packed if they were monitoring how many gets go in! We could barely get our cart around without hitting people. Plus you get the inconsiderate people who block the small isles with their carts looking at stuff, and not letting anyone thru! UGH!
We found sooo many things we loved! There was so many different sections too! They had lots of selection. More than I expected.
I think we will definitely be going again next year :)
Cool. I'm glad you liked it.
I went to the Halton Linen outlet this morning ... self employment has it's perks!
The outlet has similar pricing all year long. The stuff is not cheap since most of it is high end designer bedding and towels.
Sometimes you can get real bargains if you look hard and are flexible with your color scheme. I picked up bedding and pillows for our new King size bed.
I also bought cushions and covers for the window seat in our new bedroom. Bought cushion covers for $6 each marked down from $80 and some for $3 marked down from $80.
Most of the bedding and towels I got for about 30% off. I like designer bedding so this is a good place for me but it's definitely not inexpensive even with the discounted pricing.
Their website is not very good but if you want to get a general idea of what they sell here's the site: http://www.haltonlinen.com/default.asp The address is 1360 Speers Road, Oakville. On weekdays they're only open during the day. Open on Saturdays also but closed Sundays.
They keep most of the really cheap bed sheets and sets in a room in the back. The older lady there is very helpful. If you tell her what your color scheme is and that you're looking for the best deals she'll run around the warehouse finding stuff you would never find yourself.

Thanks K.C. Good to know :)
We are also looking for bed sheets and linens. We know what colours we want, so we don't want to much mix and match.
I don't think I will hit up this sale as we still have tons and I mean tons of stuff to buy for the house (As we have nothing since we are still with the 'rents) so our spending is a bit budgeted.
We love the feel of the high thread count bed sheets! For the beginning we're not going to go broke getting super fancy sheets. We're also not going with the cheapest stuff either. So I'm sure we'll find a happy medium :) We also are getting a King size bed!

Awesome! I love pricenetwork.com! I am a member there too.
For linens - I recommend the Springs outlet at Evans & Browns Line. (QEW & 427). I got a whole bedding set (duvet cover, shams, 2x sheets w/ 4 pillowcases each, bedskirt, 4 throw pillows and a throw blanket) for less than $150. The bed skirt alone was $110 regular. They have Sears, Bay, and other store brands for like 90% off. I bought a ceramic wastebasket, with a $39.99 sticker on it - for $2. Oh, and Wednesday is another 10% off.
I love deals!!!
