Pauline and I made the trip on the 17th and noticed that our floor joists were on a flat bed trailer, on site. We were back this past Saturday and again the floor joists were still on the flat bed trailer, however the walk-out and knee walls had been framed, not sheathed.
If anyone would be able to provide an update by Friday, that would be great.
The lot backs onto Forbes Creek (I think there is a creek back there) and is 1 lot over from the walkway that connects to the trail by the ponds.
We would like to stop by Friday to have a look, but we are 1.5 hours away and do not want to waste time if the main floor and walls are not up yet.
Thanks in advance.

Chris, if you are lot 47 the 43 foot next to the big 50 foot lot then I guess you can load up the car then. Your sub flooring is down and your first floor walls are well underway. In fact looks like they may be well on their way to having the second floor well underway by Friday.
It was dark but lot 47 the second from the path is well underway with the first floor!
Hope that helps your decision!

So we went by today and block 19 has the first and second floors framed out except for the second floor on 19-1. They are moving along quickly. Hopefully by the middle of the month the roof will be on and windows and doors in. It is nice to finally see some progression.
Oh and for block 22, they have the subfloors in for the first level.
Went by today and they were working on block 19. Block 21 has pretty much all of the brick up. Block 19 and 20... the basment windows are huge!!

My street address was printed on our last upgrade printout. I am lot 38 and we are #7 Chase Crescent. My parents bought Lot #48 and they are #51 Chase Crescent. I think at the corner, the large corner lot must count as 2 lots when they're doing their addresses.

Rob and Marianne, your knee walls and walk-out walls are framed.
Erum and Kamran, your garage floor is poured (still no framing until scaffolding to each side of you is not needed for your neighbours - I assume)
Ray and Lillian (sp?) looks as if they are about to start your brick.
I do not know many others in the area yet, but look forward to meeting you...

I have been checking weekly and was glad to see our foundation finally poured!! Was cool to see! We don't close until june, but I wonder if they will actually start framing over the winter or not, or simply wait until spring as I know it doesn't take too long to actually build the house itself.

Usually around 5 months before close! They will want to break ground and get as many places up as they can before the bad weather. We closed in April this year and they poured in Nov and by Xmas they had the place framed! The inside work and upgrades is what takes the most time!
And rest assured if they can get your house done early, they would rather get their money asap and move on!

Hello my Block 22 Brethren,
There has been some great progress over the last 30 days. All of the windows are in and the interior is framed. :)
They have added the brick to most of the exterior, and I'm guessing Mattamy will put up the siding up in the next few days.
Also, the address blocks are up, so you can actually tell people your address vs saying your block number.

Hi Christine,
I didn't notice but I will take a look today and let you know...I drive by that way on my way home from work. Which lot # are you again? I am in the townhomes 126-6.

Hi Christine,
I found your lot # on one of the posts...you are almost directly across the street from me. I will take a drive by today and let you know.

Looks like just block 126 is being framed at the moment...no detatched as yet. There was a lot more lumber there today though so I am sure they will get moving pretty quick.
I don't close until May 19, 2010 and my framing wasn't scheduled until the end of January so they are ahead of schedule...let's just hope it stays that way!!

So......finally the day has come: our Move-In Date. We get the house keys anytime between 3-4pm today.
It's rather surreal to realize how fast time has gone by. We remember counting down the months, and then the days of this past month thinking that March 4th couldn't come soon enough. We remember visiting the house every day to see the 'progress' when they hadn't even formed a rough street yet, or dug out the ground. Needless to say, we were overeager, full of anticipation, and happy to be embarking on the journey of owning a house. We may not know the word to correctly sum up all the feelings we have about finally having this day arrive, but, there is one thing we do know. And that's us looking forward to making this House into a Home.

The last time I emailed Jessica she indicated it may be the end of March but I haven't heard anymore about it.

My husband and I took a walk with our two dogs through the neighbourhood a couple nights ago. True, we don't actually live there yet, but we figured we should get to know the area (and let our dogs get to know it) before actually moving in. It was such a peaceful atmosphere. I loved the fact that people actually say hi to each other, and that kids can run around without fear. I'm soooo excited for moving day!
... I haven't heard anything about Mattamy U yet. Anyone else?

We moved here from Mississauga and it's like a whole other world over here. I became best friends with my neighbor who I met at Mattamy U. We're constantly doing things together.
The houses being so close to the street took some getting used to ... actually it really freaked me out at first ... but it does help you to get to know your neighbors better.

Yeah, I know what you mean about the houses being so close to the street. It's a little daunting, and feels kind of like they're closing in on you. I'm sure I'll adjust to that though. I like that we have a park across from our house... doesn't feel as closed in.

Mattamy U isnt really that big of a deal. Most of the things you already know and its IMHO a waste of time! The Orientation when you meet your neighbours is the best,as well as the Flowerfest that you will get to attend later!
Shouldn't they have already had their orientation? That's when you get your design binder right? Maybe I'm getting Mattamy U and orientation mixed up.
Ours was a bit disorganized ... too many people crammed into a small room on a hot summer night. Met lots of nice people though.
Pay attention when they're calling out the lot numbers so you can figure out who your neighbor is. Don't be shy ... when the orientation is over go and introduce yourself to your neighbor.
Joanne

I thought orientation and Mattamy U were the same thing. I'm pretty sure for me, there were on the same night.
It was on two different nights for us. I remember it because my husband couldn't go to one of them so my son and I went.
One was at a hotel and the other was at the design center.

Good to know Mattamy U isn't terribly helpful. And as it was supposed to occur before construction (#8 in the 'What to Expect During Your Exciting Journey' steps between #7. Design appointment and #9. Home start), I'm sure it's even less helpful at this point (2 months before close).
Haven't heard anything about an orientation either.
Mill Pond is sounding like a very friendly place so I'm sure it won't take long after moving to meet a few neighbours!

I called and spoke to Jessica today, she said they were just organizing it now and were sending out the invites soon. Sounds like they are running behind on getting things going. Would be ok for me but for those closing sooner it would have been nice to have it already I'm sure.
