Just wanted to let you know of our recent experience with a new Kitchenaid range: it is 6 months old and when we did a Self Clean this weekend it completely stopped working. :( The stove top is fine but the oven is still locked and will not work. It is probably the thermal fuse but we are waiting for a technician. Anyway, I wanted to suggest to anyone with new appliances that they try all the rarely used features in advance of the warranty expiring. I sure wouldn't want to have had to pay for this ridiculous design flaw.
Cheers!

Thanks for the information. I wouldn't trust the new technology in nowdays. I had bad experience for my plasma TV that we purchased 4 years ago. It was 42 inch, and paid for $2300 include tax. After 3 and half year of usage, the TV was died. The manufacture told us it was discontinued model and no parts available to repair. I have to through this TV away. Because of this unpleasent experience, for all of my appliances we purchased 5 years of warranty. It is very costly, but at least we will have a more peaceful mind to use them.
