Figured I would start a poll also on appliance brands.

We are still looking for our appliances and are considering any brands.

Feel free to vote on which brand you prefer.

I'm also looking for feedback (good and bad!) about any appliance brands.

I would go for Maytag or whirlpool for most major appliances! I dont think you can go wrong with their duet series for front load washers and dryers! Well thats the brand that I prefer anyway! Samsung to me is electronics but I gotta admit they do look good but i will stick with one with a proven track record WHirlpool who bought maytag!

Jennair, we love the look, and they are the most affordable brand in the high end stuff

We already bought our fridge. It's a Samsung. It had all the features we wanted (french door, icemaker, 36' wide) and was by far the most reasonable for that style. Can't wait to get it. I love the model we chose. For stove and d/w, we are getting the GE ones that came with our purchase agreement, (slightly upgraded.) For washer and dryer....still looking. Style, I have also heard good things about whirlpool duet. (and Maytag is made by whirlpool too, so they are just as good.)

They are horrible. Anyone I've ever known to buy their kitchen appliances have had HUGE problems. That's the only advice I will give.

See that's odd as I have heard they are very good reliable appliances.
I never really considered buy KA though... Nor have I used anything by KA

LOL! I retract this statement as I in fact went with a whole Samsung line as they are far superior in almost every aspect imho! We went Samsung Vrt front loading washer and dryer and they are expensive but awesome. We also went Samsung for Fridge and Stove and are soon getting a Samsung Dishwasher also!
They truly have a great sleek looking lineup and when I did my research and checked out many reviews including Consumers Report they are rated near the top also as well as LG!:D

We went with Kenmore at Sears. Great pricing when we bought, first time dealing with Sears/Kenmore but I have heard great customer service stories about them. Hopefully they are true if we ever need it.

We haven't taken delivery yet so I don't know how reliable they are on meeting delivery windows and order filling etc.

I bought a Maytag last year, the fridge is great but the customer service trying to get a repair was the worst I have ever seen (next to the Brick). It took 5 months to get the fridge fixed and turned out to be a plug unplugged inside one of the hinges.

Edit: I just realied that the "Kenmore" fridge is made by Whirlpool and the stove is Frigidaire and they are branded by Kenmore. They have 80+ manufacturer codes of the different companies that make their stuff.

if Anyone is looking for the Samsung Vrt front load set they may want to check out future shop! We were there yesterday and they have the washer for like 1350 and the dryer for 819. Similar to the price we paid! The steam set is like 3000 plus tax!
Just throwing it out there for anyone who wants a terrific front load set that does wonders on the second floor with the VRT!
Plus they look amazing! We got the stratus grey ones!:)

We got the VRT and steam for $2750 at Goemans when they were on sale, and we like'em. The new LG (square front) have "VRT" and steam as well. We really wanted candy red, but the Samsung only came in titanium/stainless steel. Still not a bad colour.

I originally ordered mine in Brampton but when I had a conflict on delivery dates I went to Goemans and they price matched for me as well. Not to mention Justin and the other delivery guy were great in their care and set up for us!
We love our pair and wouldnt trade them for the world they work great and look very stylish!:D

Just thought I would let people know about the Samsung dishwasher. We bought it for our current home and have been using it for about 8 months now. We bought it because it was one of the quitest dishwashers on ther market, now I wish I went with the Bosh. When we had it installed, the guy was having quite problem with it. He said samsung is new the appliance market and did not design it very well for installing. But the guy got it in, and everything was good. About a month into the having the dishwasher started to get louder and making this huge clunking noise. We had it checked out and were told eveything was fine. We had to call alot of places to come look at it because alot of repair companies refuse to deal with Samsungs. The dishwasher does not bolt in very well if you have granite, so it falls forward all the time if you have both racks pulled out. It has a built in food grinder, but I always rinse my dishes off anyway. It still makes horrible grinding noises, like the motor is about to die and the dishes are not always clean. I clean the dishwasher once a month like the maual says. I am happy to be seeling the dishwasher with this place and going to buy the bosh next time.

Maybe someone else will have better luck than we did. We may have just got a lemon. I would definitely suggest getting an extended warranty if you decide to buy this dishwasher. I wish we had. I still love the look of samsung products, amd the french door, freezer bottom, is still the best looking fridge out there! But out of our pricce range. :(

We also have the Whirlpool Duet Washer & Dryer and absolutely love them!!!! We have had them for 3 years and they have made it through 1 move already. I am selling them with this place, but definitely buying whirlpool again. :)

btw, my mom has a kitchen aid dishwasher that is one yea old, and already has tons of problems!!!!

We have just purchased Frigidaire Professional Series kitchen appliances for our new home. Haven't taken possession yet.

In our current house, we have Frigidaire Gallery appliances (all 5) and they have worked flawlessly since we purchased them 10 years ago. Not a single problem with them at all.

As for aplliance purchases, think not only of the style and price, but also think about whether they are easily serviced by the local service guys. It's nice to have the latest and greatest, but if they break and you can't get service, you;'re out a lot of money

I guess it's personal preference. We had the fridgidaire line in our old house as well and the stove and fridge were ok for a low end priced pair. Our dishwasher was complete garbage that didnt clean well at all and was quite loud for what was supposed to be a quiet one. We had the Gallery series for our washer and Dryer and the washer worked well but the dryer burned up for no reason at the harness and charbroiled the back of it. Like I said you win some you lose some. Guess its a gamble with any appliance you buy but WE Absolutely love our Samsung VRT front load set now and would swear by them.
I personally would never buy a Fridgidaire set again for a laundry pair. But thats my opinion and based on my set of events!

If Anybody is looking for a good deal on a dishwasher then go check out Goemans in town. They have the Bosch Acenta in white or black for like $499.00 and no Pst as its energy star! Not a bad deal for a good company with a sound history of reliability and a great rating!
Plus its stainless steel inside and for the price nothing compares to it! Most of the other ones have the plastic racks inside! Just a idea if anyone is looking for a dishwasher!

I think that's the same one we have. I LOVE that dishwasher. It's actually pretty quiet too compared to other dishwashers I've heard!

Just wanted to put this on here about my current appliances. I purchased 4 appliances 3 years ago all made by LG. Bottom freezer fridge, smooth top stove, front load washer, gas dryer. I just want to give sort of a brief review of them. The fridge is great!! No complaints about the noise its very quiet. The stainless is a pain to clean all the time though. Also the little tabs that hold the sliding freezer basket in place always come off. I recommend the sliding freezer door versus the standard door model which is what I have. The stove sucks. Takes too long to preheat. The digital control panel is intermittent meaning it works sometimes, and when you want to turn the oven on and the bake button wont work its a little frustrating. I suggest getting a conventional stove with elements and dials or gas. Smooth tops are very hard to keep clean and the electronic controls are shotty. The dryer is by far the best of the best. Its gas and its huge. I can dry a king size down duvet in no time at all!! Great choice for sure. The washer is great as well, except after a few months of use I started to get this weird smell on my clothes after washing them. I did some research and found out that LG washers didnt fully pump out all the water from the machine so there is always this water sitting in the machine and it left the clothes stinky. If you use the filter drain basket and clean it out once a month you should be okay. That what I've done and it seems to work. Good luck shopping everyone!!

we purchased all Electrolux Icon appliances from Goemans....we went to 3 places to get quotes and they were the best price.

We bought the full size fridge and full size stand up freezer beside each other with the kit to enclose them.

We purchased the fridge, freezer, dishwasher, stove (2 ovens) and range hood. Now we are going to get new washer and dryer too
