How is everyone arranging the furniture in their TV room? I'm just curious because my husband and I were at The Brick yesterday and purchased a couch and loveseat, as well as a corner etnertainment unit and that was after a long discussion about how to lay the room out.
We're leaving the kitchen layout with the breakfast bar, putting the couch along the back wall, the loveseat along the left wall (if you're looking at the blueprint) and the entertainment unit in the corner where the optional fireplace can go (bottom left). Although this makes TV viewing hard for people who are sitting on the loveseat...
Hi,
I have a Southgate End, same layout as the corner.
If you check Phase 6 board you will see pics.....lol
I put in the optional corner fireplace...................The TV will go above the fireplace.
I am going to buy a loveseat with a chaise attachement from "Snugglers" in Waterloo, they are on Weber. The Chaise part of it will go along the side wall, sofa part along the back window.
With the TV above the fireplace, people can see the TV from all angles in the kitchen and great room. I might even put a Plasma TV hanger on that can tilt and rotate.
I will use a glass coffee table, and put an end table only next to the sofa end (along back wall). The glass table will make the room look bigger.
In my opinion the loveseat with the chaise attachment makes the best use of the space. That way i dont have to worry about an end table in the corner between the back wall and the side wall. In addition the whole piece when pushed in the corner will allow lots of room to move between the great room and the kitchen.
I will put a side chair on the other side of the knee wall at the garage entrance.
I hope all this makes sense to you...........lol

Thanks! I can picture what you're saying in my head and will check your pictures out too!
How big is the bottom right corner of the great room? Is it big enough for a corner entertainment unit (a smaller one), or is it more just for a decorative plant or something? haha
hi,
the size of the corner.....um.............if you check my pics out you will see the corner fireplace..........I think the top of the mantle is 5 feet across......

Heres what Ive been thinking, most people probably have done the same. It looks a little crowded, that just cause im not too good with blueprints.. lol Also! the sofa pushed against the wall will need to be pushed away a little considering there are vents on the floor there.
Hi Tazplay,
I have a southgate end, pics on phase 6 brd...
I am doing it a bit different.....lol I did the corner fireplace. I am putting a sofa with chaise attachment in the corner.............I want to leave the space beside the island open.....................
Side chair will go where the kneewall is coming in from the garage....

I was thinking of putting something by that knee wall corner but I was worried about it becoming an obstacle when trying to go into the kitchen that way. I haven't made any official measurements to see if everything would fit my way either but Im hoping for the best! I was thinking I could put something a little smaller in that corner (a plant? or something). :D I am also reconsidering the stools at the island since there may not even be that much room for someone to sit comfortably at the counter. I forget how much room is left on the island with the sink there... :S
Hi Tazplay,
My sofa with chaise attachment is being delivered end of Nov...UGGGGGG
6 week lead time on furniture it seems. lol
I will post a pic of my furnished room layout when my sofa comes....
I think there is enough room to sit at counter. That is why i am doing the sofa with chaise attachment, so it fits in the corner and leaves a lot of space open between the kitchen and the island.
I also think the southgate layout might be ideal for a built in bunkette in the kitchen to save more room. But that will be a later project.
I think there should be lots of room by kneewall for a chair, I am moving on weekend so I guess i will find out soon....lol
