View Full Version : Blinds -
I am thinking of buying blinds from "Covers" as I know some on this site have done.
I am thinking of using white horizontal faux blinds. When i went to "Graham & Sons" in Cambridge I noticed there were 5 colors of white.
For the people that purchased from "Covers", is there a specific colour code that "Covers" sells that matches the trim colour used by Mattamy.
How did people measure the windows. On Mattamy Windows there is the crank on the bottom of the window and there is the "latch" on the side of the window that unlocks the window.
Given the "latch" on the side of the window, should I just measure the glass portion of the window to accomodate the "latch" and have the blinds only cover the glass, leaving about a one inch gap at the sides. Or, did you measure the window from trim edge to trim edge ignoring the window latch?
Does anyone have pics of installed blinds from "Covers"
Thanks,

Jason, we got our blinds from Mattamy. The color that is the closest match to the trim is called Ultra White 67109 from Levelor ... it looks like white with a hint of grey in it. I think Covers sells Levelor so they should be able to match that color even if you buy a different brand. I'm assuming Mattamy uses the same shade of white for trim in all the houses. Ultra White goes perfectly with the trim.

The blinds are measured edge to edge with no gap for the latch. You might want to get instructions from Covers on how to do proper measurements if they are not doing the measuring and installation for you.
Thanks K.C.
I will go to Covers next week .......................

We do not close until Dec/2010 but are wondering what the approximate cost would be to purchase blinds that are in the models ? We bought a Vctoria model if that can be point of reference for the amount of windows . Does Mattamy install directly as an upgrade ?

Mattamy's blinds are expensive but they will be installed for you as an upgrade if you buy through them.
If you are interested in the blinds that are in the Northridge model house ... the semi see through ones ... those are not available anymore because flies were getting stuck in them because of how they are constructed.
We got the 2" faux wood blinds throughout our house which is a Northridge elevation D and I believe the total was about $8K (ouch!). They are very high quality though. Unlike most blinds which attract alot of dust I haven't had to dust these in the 8 months we've been here. They have a special coating that resists dust.
On the front doors we went with shutters through Mattamy because they are not that expensive for a small space and wear much better than regular blinds with all the opening and closing you do with front doors. This was one of the smartest upgrades I think.
