Halton Home Inspection Service: http://www.haltoninspections.com/main.htm

We hired Andy Shaw to help us with our PDI today. He was terrific. It didn't cost much ... was about $250 plus tax for the PDI Assist service. PDI Assist is not the same thing as a home inspection. He spent over 3 hours with us and Todd our PDI rep from Mattamy. Todd and Andy got along well. Here is a link which shows the details of our PDI form. I've removed personal information from it but this is the one for our house. http://engineeringlab.dyndns.org/PDI_form.pdf

Previously Andy had been hesitant about me promoting his services to the Mill Pond group because he wasn't sure he wanted to travel to Cambridge on a regular basis but he said he's fine with it now. Just book your PDI about a month in advance so he can put you in his schedule. He's a very busy guy and no other home inspector really offers this kind of service. Andy knows how to work with builders without pissing them off. Mattamy might not want to book a PDI so far in advance but if I were you I would insist. Book it for 1 to 2 days before your closing. Call 519-651-1874 and ask to speak to your PDI rep. Give them your phase and lot number.

Our closing is tomorrow and we'll be hiring Andy again in 20 to 25 days to help us with the 30 day list. We'll hire him one last time in about 11 months.

So I guess our 30 day forms are due around April 30th since we closed on April 1st. We booked our appointment with Andy for the morning of April 23rd. Between now and then we'll be making lists and when Andy gets here he'll make a list as well and help us fill out the forms.

does the $250 include his travel fee to cambridge?

Yes it does. His normal PDI assist fee is $199 but for Cambridge it's around $250.

When he came back to do our 30 day inspection he did not charge us the travel fee but that's something at his discretion.

What time is your PDI? He likes to book his first appointment super early so he can get back to town for a second one.

ps: what did he charge you for the 30 day?

The 30 day is a full home inspection and the fee is based on the size of your house. We paid about $430 including taxes. Yours should be a bit less.
