Hi there,

For anyone who is going to be replacing their lighting fixtures right away there is a great place on Hespeler road called "The Lighting Shoppe"

They are one of the only games in town for lighting as far as I know and they have some fabulous stuff. A huge selection and will custom order as well.

Greg (I'm assuming he's the owner) is fantastic to work with and will likely give you a 20% discount on your order if you're ordering a few lights.

Anyway, their prices are great and Customer Service is excellent. They will hold your product until you move in and Greg even said he would deliver it for us if we had a problem moving it (and we only ordered 8 lights!!!)

That's really helpful ... thanks. Do you have any idea what manufacturers they have access to? I'm going to want to order some nice sconces. I'm having a hard time finding a local source that sells high end stuff.

If he's willing to deliver he probably does installation as well. Does he?

I've had some repair work on a chandelier done at the Lighting Shoppe in Mississauga and their prices are awesome. Don't hire an electrician to fix things. You can probably save yourself alot of money by getting to know the people at the Lighting Shoppe.

Hey K.C., Geez, I can't remember off the top of my head which manufacturers he deals with. I know we ordered some stuff from Hinkley, but truly - he has a LOT in there and seems very willing to accomodate.

The prices are great. We got some great looking lights for all of the bathrooms to replace the hideous lights that Mattamy includes (the dressing room strip!) and we didn't pay more than $70 for each set! They just got in a whole slew of great looking foyer lights too.

They are definitely, definitely worth checking out - I would give them a call to see if they will hook them up for you. We didn't even ask as my hubby will do all of that ;)

My husband can hook up all the lights except the wall sconces. They can be tricky. I don't want him to get electrocuted ... I still like him!

I hope he flips off the breaker on the main panel before doing any work? If he does then there is no chance of getting zapped... provided you actually check that the power is off, either with a multimeter or at the very least a wand.

I think I'll just hire the Lighting Shoppe people to replace all the lights when the time comes.

I called the Lighting Shoppe and they faxed me a list of the manufacturers they can buy from. I think she said the lead time for special orders was about 5 days. They don't do installations but they have a guy they recommend. He's a one man operation so his prices should be very reasonable. I think we're going to have a lot of one man operations in this town. Cool!

I found them really expensive

Living Lighting on Fairway in Kitchener were fantastic. Great prices and they even let us return something without a receipt
