I did a bit of research regarding this as we were interested in doing this. From what I read, the cost-benefit analysis didn't work for us. The cost of the tankless system is quite high and the savings take years to see; often it takes longer than the life expectancy of the system. If anyone has info to the contrary though, I would be glad to hear it!

I mean through Mattamy.. I was wondering if the Thankless water heater option is available
I'm almost 100% sure it's not available. We would have considered it if it was.

All I know is that anyone who wants to break the rental agreement with Reliant is going to have a fight on their hands. We wanted to buy one and install our own after closing and it wasn't allowed.

Did you sign the rental agreement with reliant before or after closing? A tankless water heater is the first thing I want to do after closing.
Can you please post the phone # for reliant?
thanks

I don't recall signing an agreement with them personally. But I do believe that upon purchasing the home it's in one of the schedule's saying that we will be renting from them. (I think there maybe was an option to buy one outright) Can someone correct me if I'm mistaken?

For the standard water heater rental I believe its rented month to month or indefinately! Cause its a rental, therefore any repairs or replacement of the unit is there responsibility because you dont own it! So the maintenance portion is looked after by them although for what you pay to rent it you could own it. I know here in Brampton we pay like $26 per month for ours! But it is What it is!

Correction: I was wrong. The units are rented month to month and we are allowed to cancel the agreement at any time. This is different from Hawthorne Village where they are forced to pay a penalty if they want to stop renting. That's where I got confused.
We signed up with them for now but will be buying our own water heater in the near future.

can anyone please post what reliance is charging per month for the rental water tanks in the millpond.
thanks.
And a question about installing a tankless unit; would i be required to upgrade the gas line to the house to a 1" line or is the standard 3/4 line good?

Good Day everyone
my name is Waqas and my wife name is Fatima, i have done some extensive research on tankless water heaters so i am gonna share with you
1. best thing is to get energy audit done, then you will get 630 dollars back, it cost between 300-350 for the first appointment, they will give u a check of 150 so basically 150-175 for the first appointment.
2. now u have 18 months to get ur things done.
3. best tankless in the market is be RINNAI
http://www.rinnai.us/tankless-water-heaters/
i am getting their R94LSi
http://www.rinnai.us/tankless-water-heaters/r94lsi/
that will give us enough water.
4.Cost: it varies between 3300-4800 dollars , but i found a guy licensed heating service and i will be paying 3000 installed, great deal
5.once u get it installed then get the second energy audit done, will cost you 175 , after that you will be able to claim ur 650 rebate
any questions please call me 519-212-5788

looks like a 10 year lease at 25-30$ per month. Highway robbery, but it's in your purchase contract.
I'm still trying to figure out if i can get out of mine.

Their responsibility??? That is what you think and what Mattamy implied. Reliance sees it differently!!!! They work like Bell.(Our wires no cost, your wires....you pay them the service call and they don't fix anything.) Reliance will tell you up front when you call for service that they charge you to come out to the house to check THEIR heater. If there is a problem with the heater itself it will be refunded however if they find the problem was with installation by Mattamy ... no refund and no service. So.... you call Mattamy and they say the heaters are Reliance's responsibility. And the circle continues.
