View Full Version : Basement support beams/walls?
Hi, I noticed in the models that the basement had 2x6 walls supporting the first floor instead of the more traditional steel post and beam method. Is this the case in the homes being built in Mill Pond?
Thanks

Our house is supported on wooden beams... Our current house that was built in 2003 has the steel beams. I hope we never get termites LOL
Thanks for the response but do you mean wood 2x6 walls (with doorway openings) or full-span (foundation wall to foundation wall) engineered wood beams?
We're in a Northridge. I'm pretty sure it's steel post and beam method.

I will have to look at our walkthrough this Thursday. I know the vertical supports are wood. I'm not sure about the horizontal beam that those supports sit under though. I'm also not sure if I am reading the question correctly. Hopefully I'm answering the question as asked.

I think that it also depends on the type/size of home that you have. Our's is supported by a steel post and wooden engineered beams.
