Hey Everyone!

I know that Mattamy provides 2 concrete steps from the garage into the house, but does anyone know if they will provide something similar at the back patio door?

Just trying to think in advance if we'll have that covered or if we will need to make/buy something so it's not such a big jump (And yes, for the short people like me, everything is a big jump :D)

Thanks in advance :)

I can't remember the exact height that is allowed by code, but I think that it is anything more than 10 or 12 inches NEEDS to have some kind of step or railing there. So by code, they would either have to add a step or install a railing outside your back door if there is more than a 10" drop to grade.

...I believe.

Yes, they add one block step outside the patio doors. When we had our framewalk, the builder confirmed it. Hope that helps.

Hi,

Speaking of steps to the garage..............I was walking through a townhouse last weekend. There was a door to the garage. Howvever, the builder has lowered the floor where the door going to the garage was.

So there is a step from the hallway floor to the floor where the garage door is.

I really hope that doesnt happen in my townhouse when it is built......i would be really upset, it totally interrupts the flow of the floor.

I am not sure if the owner wanted that or it had to be done because of the grade. But if the owner isint aware they will be in for a real surprise......

At your structural appt your design consultant would have shown you and given you a copy of your lot sitting. On that document it will state if you have any risers. :)

Ours isn't like that, we only will have three steps into the house from the garage door, but it is level once inside. I'm really interested on how that would look.

We have the step down in our place from the garage to the inside.
