View Full Version : blinds
Hi,
Is anyone using blinds for their windows? If you are have you found a good place in the KW/Cambridge area.
I like the look of the roman bamboo blinds like they used in the Thompson model, but it wont control light very well. My second option would be horizontal wooden blinds.
For the people using the Vienna Hardwood, will you use white horizontal blinds to match the trim or will you use a dark blind to blend with the floor?

Hey Jason,
Kevin and I are looking to put white horizontal wood blinds in majority of the house. We are also putting up white wooden vertical blinds at the patio doors. In other places (Dining room, Master Bedroom and Guest Room) we'll be putting up curtains. We're not sure what we are doing to the door's window :(
We haven't found a good place to purchase them yet. We've looked at Lowes, home depot, rona and covers. We looked at custom blinds and the pricing was crazy expensive! Forget that haha I'd rather pay 1/3rd the price for the same thing without custom cutting.

I know that Home Depot and Rona will cut them for you, if possible. I have found that this is likely the least expensive option.
I'm not a big fan of Wal-Mart, in general, but my mother-in-law recently purchased some there, and they were even less than at Home Depot.

some of the custom blinds have special sales, levelor and hunter douglas, go to home depot and ask them when they have a sale it's usually 20-25% off
keep in mind that these are custom made blinds and are a little more expensive than pre made ones
Hi,
I was at Benjamin Moore and they sell blinds. Some of their blinds are on special.
I am thinking horizontal blinds in white to match trim. Likely vinal as people keep saying wood will warp.....
The challenge is to get the correct measurement.......to account for window cranks etc....
I am not sure if you should just measure the glass itself or the window casing......
