How much would this cost a Southgate owner?

hi Brian,

Here is the cost for a Southgate owner............................

oak stair case with upgraded railing to R3C..................$2,548.00
Victorian Newell Post .....[sq post instead of turned].....$ 554.00
Stain/Paint combo on stairs.......................................$1,36 2.00

total $ 4,464.00

I know it sounds like a lot.......LOL.........but in a Southgate it has that open Staircase.......................I think the staircase will be a focal point..............
One of the reasons I liked the Southgate is that it reminds me of the older homes with the front entrance, hallway, room off to the side and open staircase......

I think we will be getting this because doing this yourself would be hard lol
or cost just as much after closing

Does Mattamy allow you to stain and varnish the staircase yourself? This would help reduce costs if you are handy.

Hey Jason,

I think that staircase looks awesome. I love the brown and the white!

Hi Fletcher,

Mattamy will not likely allow you to do that.....people have asked similar questions on the Milton site.........

Hi Smart, I think it is a great look, it would look great on the Southgate townhouse. In the Southgate, the stair well is open and it is the first thing you see...................

I hope to do that.....

In order to pass inspection and meet code, the staircase needs to be finished. They would leave the wood as a natural colour and just put a clear finishing coat on it. The home owner would then have to try and strip the finish that Mattamy puts on and then stain it themselves. If you are getting hardwood floors, you would also have to try and match the colour of the stain to the finish on the hardwood...VERY difficult to do.
